Sand Braap
Riders: Inver, MickKal, Tommy, Mark, Jack

Where is the rain ? Regardless Inver called an OVT ride and cold beer after the ride is the carrot to dig deep and punish yourself all day in sand and whoops.

Head out from OVT on black top and straight into bottomless sandy trail, followed by awesome Pine trails and then meandered our way to Guilderton.

From Guilderton to Seabird the tracks turned into fire trails and we explored areas less ridden until eventually we popped out in Seabird. Hi fived each other at the Seabird Tavern, did a U turn and looped back to Guilderton for a re-fuel of bike and rider.

By the late afternoon the sand was looser and deeper. Mark collected an emu and ate dirt, luckily both escaped injury. The final stretch from Yanchep Road was a blur as the body and mind shifted into autopilot and held on tight through the whoops back to OVT.

Never ever underestimate the joy a cold beer brings after a day of hard riding.
Thanks to Inver for calling the ride, just a lazy 240km 😊 and to Tommy for sweeping.

OVT JB120 ride. Inver called the OVT ride for Saturday but all the sand fans had gone quiet... There was some rain and so I was a last minute inclusion and Joe was another so that made 3. Inver started with a run to the Woodbridge cafe for snacks thru some of the JB500 tracks which included the odd whoop but with the rain and wet sand they were easy going. The Best tracks of the day were when we hit the coast and headed south along a couple of dunes and lots of flowing trails, and suprisingly only one 4wd was spotted. I was getting a bit of fuel anxiety so we decided to head for home with a transport section and my fuel light came on as I rolled up at the OVT with 116klm on the clock. Then we into the OVT for a Bevvie and it was good to see Jersey Boy, Jnr and Cass also join us for a beer and catchup.

Well the gods were with us Sunday. The 2025 DACA adventure rally turned out with the best weather we have had in many years.Bumped into Jack, Col Jennings and Sam Icobellis. The track was similar single trail similar to last year and I should have gone 2 stroke. Not to worry ,it was still fun.Had a couple of real novice riders out there,so it was a long day for the tail sweeps. For 20 ks I could not get past 2nd gear.In all about 135 starters and for the first time i can remember,no broken bones.
The highlight for me, was a guy arriving on a pretty new KTM 1290.Road down from Scabs that morning.
Amongst a couple of snickers and knowing grins from a few old hands,he sets off.I never saw him on the track and assumed he bailed when he hit a main road. But no, he had finished his first lap and then did it again. When all over , had a beer in the rain with us, then road back home. In my mind ,that's what legends are made of.I take my hat off to him.Not even a scratch on his shiny steed.

Julimar Best of the West Side Enduro Ride

Riders: MickKal, Tommy, Invar, Jacko, Jack, and nine others

It was a morning that promised adventure, MickKal the ever-reliable ride leader had organized another outing to Julimar. Optimistic forecast of showers from the night before buzzed through the group of 14 riders, a mix of seasoned veterans and eager newcomers ready to embark on the first ride of the 2025 season.

Unfortunately, the forecast had proved misleading. The ground was dry and loose, resembling marbles poised for mischief, and the earlier rain had done little to change the trail conditions.

MickKal expertly stitched together 80 kilometres of exhilarating single trails. His past experiences and a little summer exploration resulted in a route that would challenge all of us.

True to Julimar's reputation, the ride was punctuated with challenges. It was here that the single trail revealed its character, steep inclines demanded both strength and strategy, and rocky descents called for total concentration. At times, the landscape seemed to conspire against us, leading to those inevitable “holy shit moments” where gravity had its say, and collective gasps followed from riders flying off into the bush.

Misfortune struck one unlucky rider “Mike” who suffered a crash that left him nursing a severely broken wrist and needing to be double-dinked back to the vehicles. Was it the bark busters or unforgiving encounter with a white gum tree? Regardless, it served as a sobering reminder of the risks inherent in our beloved sport.

As always, MickKal did a magnificent job at leading us on some great single trails whilst everybody else contributed to great banter, laughter and good memories.

Bring on the rain and another CQ’s ride.

Well ,now I have started to recover ,its time to post my version of the Karragullen to Nannup via Pemberton ride.
I met the guys 25ks East of Dwellingup.Cruisey ride to Collie , a fuel up ,a bite and to eat then off heading towards the Welly Dam area. All good until Tommy veered off Mungalup Rd and headed closer to the river.60 years ago I rode my brother's XL250 through that area and rember skull dragging it in overgrown jungle.Sure enough we head down a track reminiscent of that trip.An old unfit fella with a 690 and bid top heavy pack was struggling through a track more suited to the EXC300.Surpisingly we got through without too many issues, but all bluetonguing at the end.The rest of the trip to Pemberton started off comfortable but ever the sadist, Tommy took us through more undiscovered tracks.A lot turned out to impassable,so turn around a again. The big issue of course with the adventure bikes, you don't turn them around too easy .3 point turns are the go.Anyway every now and then we would hit a new track which turned out untouched, leafy and easy to ride.At Pemby fueled up, had lunch and a couple of midstrengths then back towards Nannup.I think in this leg we hit the infamous overgrown wattle sappling country. We got to the point at 2/3 in to make a decision.Everyone was over this. However ,remembering what we had just been through ,spurned us on keep going. In the end a good decsion.By now the fatigue plus the lunch and beers was starting to have an effect.Tommy however, had not finished with us and we ended up in an overgrown area and a single trail which had the potential to end up badly.Around we go again ,found a top track which then stopped us within a 100m of a main road. All tracks we tried became dead ends. Finally we found one which evetually opened up to a good track then a road then a farmers gate.We snook through there ,but unbeknown to us, the farmer in his ute was following.Horn tooting and closely tailing us to Nannup. He was taking down all of our plate details. My fellow riders all pissed off and I stayed to placate him with diplomacy.Anyway turns out is rider too.In the end he then realised I was a nice guy for staying around but did not like my arsole mates who took off. That arternoon a couple of beers at the pub then off to the golf course with some coldies.I won't blow own trumpet about the magnificent save when I stalled the 690 outside the liquor store with a 6 pack balanced on my lap.A good nightz camping on one of the old golf greens apart from the guy driving around all night playing doof doof music.Next day, doof doof was still going at 6am ,so we had an early start back North.I cunningly left my overweight pack at the servo for a mate to pick up.We had mixed ride back with a bit of challenging stuff ,but then an easy ride to Welly dam.Road closed so detoured back to Allanson and followed Beala road back to Big tee.Topped up with fuel at the farm then headed Northish.More overgrown tracks and wrong ways ,but still pushed through.Easy run then till lane pool reserve.Must have been on the Fawcet track. It seemed neverending. We all agreed on that. Finally Dwellingup loomed.I split for a highway trip back. The others headed to Karragullen. My total ks for the 3 days, just under 1000.The last day 386.3 beers and half a red and in bed by 9.Thanks heaps Tommy for a good challenging ride. Thanks Mikkal for sweeping.JNR ,well he may have been the one that did not drop it.Unless he kept it quiet.Long story but easier than working.

Cheers
